How Professional Portraits Ensure Precious Family Time Does Not Go Unnoticed

Family time is precious and with modern standards of living creating increasingly busy schedules for parents and their children, it is all too easy to miss the special moments of children as they grow up. Anyone who has children knows how quickly time goes by and how fast they develop from babies to young adults – and parents who feel they have missed out suddenly find it’s too late to do anything about it.

For those busy parents whose itineraries and to-do lists will not shift, the next best thing is to capture as many moments as possible. The proliferation of digital photo and video capabilities means it is easier than ever to record the activities of children and also those special family moments on the rare occasions when everyone is together. But even during these moments, it can be difficult to catch emotions and expressions in the best way, with lively children always likely to disrupt an attempted photo during their play. This is why a professional family portrait can be the best option for most accurately and attractively framing a moment.

Mango Studios is a professional photography studio who offer high quality family portraits. With options including in-studio or on location, families can partake in either a 45-minute or 60-minute session with an experienced photographer and industry standard lighting equipment, ensuring that those unique family moments are portrayed in as clear and artistic a form as possible.

The idea of the sessions is to depict families in entirely natural form, meaning the photographer will act as a prompt rather than a director. Whether it’s in the studio or out in the park, or even sitting down to eat breakfast, the aim is to frame things in a completely unforced way – enabling the photographer to catch those little moments of interaction that are often the most meaningful, memorable and unique aspects of every family’s life together.

There is minimal preparation required. If the shoot is taking place in the family home, the photographer will need a space with plenty of natural light – so if a large window is nearby, that will be a good place to perform the shoot. It is also a good idea to keep the surrounding area in the house free of clutter and reasonably tidy, to avoid distractions creeping into the final photos – and if the shoot is taking place outdoors, useful props such as picnic blankets and the kids’ toys will be useful.

Mango Studios also perform maternity and newborn shoots, for those fledgling family portraits. They recommend maternity sessions at around the 30th week of pregnancy – as any time afterwards might be uncomfortable – while for newborns it is recommended that they take place before the baby is two weeks old. This way they are more likely to be sleeping, making the session logistically easier.

Final images are usually available three to six weeks later, after the usual process of proofing and colour-correcting has taken place. A selection of the 50 best images will be chosen and made available in an online gallery.
