Shapiro Law Group, PC Remains Open and is Offering Teleconferencing During Coronavirus
With a “client first” approach to business and a dedication to protecting the rights and well-being of their clients, Shapiro Law Group quickly jumped into action, transforming the way they do business to accommodate the needs of their clients. From divorce representation and guidance, to business litigation or employment litigation, they remain open and ready to serve via teleconferencing.

On Friday, April 24, 2020, Massachusetts state Governor Charlie Baker announced that it was too soon to say whether or not he would act to extend the state’s emergency measures, including the state’s “stay at home order”, currently set to expire May 4th. Although both residents and businesses are optimistic and hopeful, Baker was cited in the Boston Globe as saying that emergency measures will ‘probably’ be extended beyond May 4th.

Adapting to a New Way of Doing Business

Although necessary to preserve and protect public health, these measures result in challenges for businesses in every sector and for individuals who need the products and services these businesses provide.

It would be naive to say that the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has not, in some way or manner, impacted the lives of virtually every resident in the great state of Massachusetts and around the nation.

With life grinding to a halt across Massachusetts, many residents have questions regarding local court systems and the ability to obtain adequate legal counsel. Ready to tackle these unique challenges, Shapiro Law Group, PC quickly implemented measures to adapt to the changing circumstances surrounding COVID-19, leveraging technology and offering teleconferencing options to ensure their clients get the legal representation and assistance they deserve.

Until state-mandated business closures and “stay at home” orders have been lifted, and until it is deemed safe for client appointments to take place in person, Shapiro Law Group is offering teleconference appointments for legal counsel.

Courthouse Closures and Virtual Proceedings

Those with pending court cases and dates also have a lot of questions. Massachusetts state courts are adapting in order to conduct business safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On April 6, 2020, the Trial Court Emergency Administrative Order 20-7 was issued, with courts in Massachusetts remaining open for those matters deemed to be an “emergency”. However, courthouses are currently closed to the public. Yesterday, the courts announced they will remain closed until June 1st.

Matters deemed to be an emergency in nature will be handled during normal court hours Monday through Friday, with trial courts conducting those matters virtually employing videoconference, telephone, email or other comparable means.

Further guidance can be had by reaching out to Shapiro Law Group, PC, or by contacting local courthouses, each of which has issued a “Frequently Asked Questions” section on their respective websites regarding matters on how they are operating during this time. Individuals may also reach out to their local clerk’s, register’s or recorder’s office for additional support.
