Innovative entrepreneur, Moquez Dickens of Starkraft New York Clothing, creates Pop-Up shop to help young black businesses and the homeless as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to ravage

Moquez Dickens of Starkraft New York Clothing is giving back to the community in the grandest way possible with the launch of a pop-up shop to alleviate the suffering of people, especially during the Covid crisis. The laudable initiative aims to lift young businesses and their owners as well as the homeless, giving them the needed support in these trying times.

The Covid-19 pandemic has undoubtedly disrupted normalcy and the crisis has continued to wreak havoc across the globe. The United States remains one of the worst-hit nations of the world, causing businesses, especially minority-owned enterprises, to struggle amid dwindling revenue while families continue to find it difficult to make ends meet.

According to a recent report, nearly 50% of Black small businesses had been wiped out by the end of April as the pandemic ravaged minority communities disproportionately. While the pandemic has hit entrepreneurs across the board, closing some 3.3 million small businesses at least temporarily, the sidelining of 440,000 African Americans was especially severe. Black owners may have fared worse because fewer of them operated in industries deemed “essential” during the pandemic, among other factors. Several initiatives have been put in place by government bodies to reduce the negative impact of the crisis. However, more needs to be done in this regard, which is where Marquis Dickens of Starkrafe New York is looking to make a difference with the recently launched Pop-Up shop.

The young passionate entrepreneur is looking to bring together young black entrepreneurs who started business pre and during COVID, giving them the necessary support to grow their sales. In a related development, the Pop-Up Shop will also service the homeless in the community, giving away clothing on a first come first serve basis.

Some of the young businesspeople featured are Niali Brand Est 2020, Scheme wear, Blazin Beauty, JayJay’s Drip Shop, KKragz ex2020, TLR Hood Supply, and Spooky. Other featured businesses include Essence by Ellie, Kooyah Kollection, Angel Baby Cosmetix, Star’s Beauty Essentials, and Robinson Jewelry Design.

The pop-up shop is open to all categories of business owners, irrespective of gender. There will be strict adherence to Covid-19 safety protocols during the meeting.
