Wellness has become a bit of a buzzword lately, but what does it really mean? It goes beyond absence of disease to states of physical and mental well being. It’s about more than being healthy, it’s about feeling good. And what’s the connection with interior design?
We tend to think of interior design as being primarily about style and fashion. A growing body of research suggests that our aesthetic choices can take us beyond style trends. Based on research which suggests that our association with nature seems to support states in which we thrive, we are finding that nature, quite simply, is very good for us. Reduced blood pressure, better functioning immune systems, higher cortical levels etc are all associated with our connection to nature.
The essence of wellness interior design is about capturing the magic of the natural world and bringing its elements into the interiors of our nature devoid urban homes.

Ms. Parisi’s award winning work includes homes, hotels and restaurants. She has been published extensively in AD France, AD Italy, In Style and other leading publications. She began her enquiry into holistic design when she created the interiors for Hotel Parisi in La Jolla CA which was featured in Condé Naste Travel Magazine as “one of the best boutique hotels in the world”. Her formal education includes training in fine arts and psychology culminating in a Master’s Degree.
